VRBO only lets the property owner post the reviews they want. This makes for a very poor user experience because they cannot get the full picture of the various rentals. When I was ripped off y a property owner in Big Bear, Ca last year, I left a scathing review in an effort to warn others. When my review was not listed, I complained. VRBO told me that the owner chooses what reviews to post. Obviously, they would not post mine. I recommend everyone use caution when dealing with vrbo.com and homeaway.com (same company)

I'm not really surprised. Apple has always been over-protective with their products ever since. But it has come a long way from back in the days when personal computers were still new. On this note I like how silverlight has come out in the way that you can use lots of languages to develop on it. It's one way of inviting more developers to try it and not have to learn another programming language all over.

Good post, I especially like the quote from Ms. Reidy. It shows how out of touch some people and businesses are.

I wonder if there's some truth to the opposition to the $10 price point though. If the average price of a new hardcover is $25 does that mean that publishers are spending $15 on the physical product? I doubt it since you can self publish single copies for around $25. With their volume and owning the production facilities it probably costs them less than $10 a book. That leaves at least $5 (or more) of decreased revenue from a $10 price point that's not offset by the less expensive format.

I bought this device because I read a lot of books. I don't read any of the best sellers, I read mostly the paranormal romance books and Sci Fi. The reason I bought this device instead of the Sony electronic reader is that the books are downloaded directly to the device. You don't need to be at your computer. So , if you are on the road, you can download a book without a computer.
Another reason I bought the Kindle is that I have a iMac. The Sony reader needs a PC. The only thing I found is a drawback of the Kindle is that some of the books I would like to have downloaded are not offered in Kindle format yet. I have to click on the 'request to publisher' and hope that it will be made available in a reasonable amount of time before I resort to buying the book at a store.

Good article, Well Wisher. The author brings up some good points, but misses the boat and throws around a bunch of nonsense issues too.

Regarding referential integrity, my solution #4 above involves no relationship between the data tables and the Choices table. The Choices table merely provides the values to provide in the UI.

If those choices themselves need to become "things" (with attributes of their own and relationships back to your other entities), it makes more sense to give them a table of their own, a surrogate primary key, etc.

If you're still stuck, you might like to try the IKVM.NET runtime, which allows you to run the Java code on .Net. It should work fine with ExcelDna (and if not, I'd be happy to help).

My solution is a bit simpler, if not quite so elegant...Michelle keeps the home calendar and unless I'm deployed somewhere, I'm home by 1700, M-F. Still, we haven't quite gotten rid of the "sync" issues, but again, we have a little bit different method. When people ask me if I'm free, I call Michelle and ask...better yet, by now everybody knows to bypass me completely. Maybe I'm just lazy, but hey, works for us.

I had need of just such a thing today, that is using something that looked like a silk icon but needed to be scaled up. So I did a few today and put them into a git repository (http://github.com/siannopollo/vector-icons/tree/master). I may do more if I need them, but it's a start! Enjoy!

Gil, I am!

At my job, we have several apps dependent on Prototype and Scriptaculous, so I swapped them from my own static-file server to Google.

I also switched to CacheFile for Ext Js, but it's a little slow for my tastes, I may switch back until someone with a better CDN picks it up.
